Frameless Glass Balustrade Installation.
As part of a recent rear extension project, we were instructed to supply and install a frameless glass balustrade system that would complement the new architectural layout while maintaining a clean, uninterrupted finish.
The client wanted something minimal, but it still needed to feel in keeping with the property — particularly the existing black aluminium doors that framed the extension.
The Solution
We specified a frameless balustrade system using a black base channel, allowing the glass to sit flush with no visible posts or clamps. This gave us the clean, architectural look the client was after, while tying in seamlessly with the surrounding finishes.
The glass itself was 21.5mm toughened laminated safety glass, chosen not just for its strength, but to ensure full compliance and long-term performance in an external setting.
Installation Details
The base channel was carefully set out and fixed to ensure a perfectly straight line across the opening — critical with frameless systems where any deviation will show.
Once installed, the glass panels were positioned, aligned and packed within the channel, then secured to achieve a solid, rigid finish with no movement.
All sightlines were kept sharp and consistent, with particular attention paid to how the system lined through with the door frames.
The Result
The finished balustrade sits effortlessly within the space — clean, minimal, and in keeping with the extension as a whole.
The black base channel subtly mirrors the existing doors, while the frameless glass keeps the area feeling open and unobstructed.
A simple detail, but one that elevates the entire project.
