Handmade Antique Mirror, Bathroom Installation

Not every antique mirror job is the same, and this one was a good example of why. An interior designer came to us wanting a genuinely handmade antique mirror for a bathroom scheme, on 6mm toughened glass, with a pattern built up by hand rather than the printed antiqued effect you get from most suppliers.

The brief

The designer had a clear vision: real character, not a generic “aged” mirror finish. That meant:

A handmade antique mirror, pattern applied by hand, no two panels identical
6mm toughened glass, the right spec for a bathroom or wet room
A finish that matched the sample and sat properly within the wider design scheme

How it was done

Antique mirror only looks right when it’s actually handmade. We built up the pattern, foxing, and ageing effect by hand across the glass, working to the designer’s sample so the finished panel had genuine depth rather than a flat, one-note antique look.

Toughened glass at 6mm was the obvious choice for a bathroom. It’s the standard safety spec for mirror in wet areas, breaking into small blunt pieces rather than sharp shards if it’s ever damaged.

Because this came through an interior designer rather than a contractor, we worked to their spec directly throughout, from sample matching to final sizing, so the mirror slotted straight into the rest of the room’s finishes.

The result

A bathroom with a handmade antique mirror that actually looks handmade, on 6mm toughened glass, delivered to an interior designer’s brief from first sample to final fit.
