RAILS, Notting Hill: Antique and Low Iron Mirror Installation
Glazing contractor for a high end restaurant fit out in Notting Hill, London
Project overview
RAILS in Notting Hill needed a mirror installation that matched the ambition of the wider fit out. Geo Glaze was brought in as specialist glazing contractor, working alongside the design and build company and the project’s interior designer to deliver a mix of antique mirror and low iron mirror across the venue.
This was a high end commercial fit out with tight tolerances, a live construction programme, and finishes that needed to be right first time. As glazing contractors, our job was to turn the design intent into an installed product that held up under close inspection.
The brief
The interior designer specified antique mirror for feature areas, chosen for its aged, characterful finish, alongside low iron mirror for areas needing a true, undistorted reflection with no green tint. Getting both right in the same space meant:
Matching antique mirror finish and framing to the designer’s sample and spec Supplying low iron mirror cut and polished to exact panel sizes
Coordinating install sequencing with the design and build company’s programme Protecting finished surfaces on site through to handover
Our approach
Geo Glaze worked directly with the design and build company from an early stage, reviewing drawings and confirming panel sizes, fixing methods, and edge finishes before manufacture. This meant no surprises on install day and no delays to the wider programme.
Antique mirror
Antique mirror was used to bring depth and warmth to key feature walls, in line with the interior designer’s vision for the space. Panels were manufactured to match agreed sample
finishes, with consistent ageing and foxing effect across every piece so the run reads as one continuous feature rather than a set of mismatched panels.
Low iron mirror
Low iron mirror was specified where colour accuracy mattered most. Standard mirror carries a green tint that becomes obvious over large areas or next to true whites. Low iron glass removes this, giving RAILS a cleaner, truer reflection in the areas where it counts.
On site coordination
As a subcontractor to the design and build company, Geo Glaze worked around the wider trades on site, sequencing mirror install to fit the fit out programme without holding up other packages. Panels were protected until final handover to keep finishes pristine for opening.
The result
RAILS Notting Hill now has a mirror installation that supports the wider interior design scheme rather than fighting it. Antique mirror gives the feature areas character and warmth. Low iron mirror keeps sightlines and reflections clean and true. Both were delivered to programme, working in step with the design and build company and interior designer throughout.
